From 1983 to 2004 that used to be the motto of Origin Systems, which built its reputation on crafting games that would send you along the roads to fantasy worlds in no time. Games in the likes of the Wing Commander or the Ultima series. Enrapturing games, with an eye for detail.
Those are the kind of games that are celebrated here.
Unfortunately, most images available on the web come short of capturing the atmosphere players discover during their first playthrough among those uncharted territories. Publishers screenshots get increasingly staged and edited, preventing them to relate to actual gaming experiences. Meanwhile, gamers screenshots – rushed in the middle of the action, crammed with HUD elements – are often too rough to set one’s imagination ablaze. This web gallery aims at providing a compromise.
